I love when two brands I admire come together to create a thing of beauty! I am a lover of fashion and obviously makeup so when MAC announced they would be collaborating with fashion house Proenza Schouler for a makeup line, my little heart just fluttered!
This collection does not have foundations or eyeshadows, instead, the geniuses behind Proenza Schouler, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough opted for bold blushes, lipsticks and nail polish and dark and sexy eyeliners. The super fun and bright collection hits maccosmetics.com on April 21, and will be available at MAC counters and stores nationwide on April 24! See the collection below!
The Academy Award winning actress will join the fellow celebrities Julia Roberts, Lily Collins, Kate Winslet and Penélope Cruz as a Lancôme ambassador.
Of her partnership with Lancôme Lupita said:
“I am truly honored to join the Maison Lancôme, a brand with such a prestigious history and that I have always loved. I am particularly proud to represent its unique vision for women and the idea that beauty should not be dictated, but should instead be an expression of a woman’s freedom to be herself.”
Lupita’s ads will debut in September 2014. I am so excited about this joint venture. I am already itching to get my hands on everything Nyong’o will be wearing for this fall!
It has been one year since I relaunched my baby, Colour Me Glam! This blog has been a labor of love and a creative outlet for my makeup and fashion obsession. Thank you all so much for supporting me through this exciting journey!
My blog shares a birthday with one of the most special people in my life, my sister Fabiola, who is my best friend, closest confidant and just all around the best person I know. Her love and support has been everything to me and I would be remiss if I did not wish her a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Just call my Santa Claus, it may be Colour Me Glam’s birthday, but I am gifting you a special treat. A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog post raving about The Spa At Mint! I love this place so much, I want you to experience this place of bliss!
The Spa At MINT is running a special, Buy a Brazilian wax, Get a Free eyebrow wax! However, Colour Me Glam readers, have an opportunity to get this for FREE! See giveaway below! Good Luck!!!
Get ready for your new favorite blush! This month, Milani has released four new blushes that are stunning, highly pigmented and under $10! This limited edition blush can be found at Walgreens stores and I suggest you run out quickly and get yours because they have been selling out. I was lucky enough to be sent one of them in the shade Tea Rose. Even the packaging for this is beautiful. Each blush has a rose detail that is so pretty I did not want to touch it.
This matte blush is long-lasting and highly pigmented, so a little goes a long way. It is buildable, so start with a light application and add more if need be!
This blush is a new stable in my arsenal and crushes the misconception that you can’t gorgeous makeup at the drugstore. I will be hunting down the rest of the shades in this line!
I am wearing Milani Blush in shade Tea Rose -08
On any given week, I live a stress filled life! Between my job at a major public relations firm, blogging and my attempts at a social life, my days are pretty full. Moments like this, I head straight for a cozy spa to rub the day. Last week, I went to a spa in D.C. called the Spa Room.
This adorable spa is located in DC’s Tenleytown neighborhood and it is metro accessible. When you set up an appointment at the spa, you are sent a code that lets you in the building and the suite. Once you enter the suite, you instantly feel at peace in this tranquil waiting room decorated in mostly white furniture.
My appointment was with the owner, Mary Szegda. Prior to my massage, I sat down with Mary for about half hour to talk about health, wellness and her background. Interestingly enough, Mary has a dance background and incorporates it in her work as a spa owner and yoga instructor. After working at a number of spas, she decided to open the Spa Room in 2010.
I was booked for an 80- minute swedish massage with Mary and it was simply divine! She rubbed my stress and pain away. Everything in that room said I needed to relax. Mary had tranquil music playing in the room and a couple of times she would ask if I was comfortable. As you can expect, when my massage was over I did not want to leave. I really just wanted to stay in that peaceful place for just a few hours more.
And if you are a yogi, Mary also offers individual yoga classes that will allow you to go at your own pace and you will have someone to help you through the poses.
Have an event and need a gift, the Spa room has you covered. They put together the cutest gifts sets geared towards relaxation like the one below.
It takes a leap of faith to believe in an idea so much that you leave an established career to follow your dreams. After speaking with STYLECABLE founder Uyen Tang, I quickly felt her passion for the company.
Having had careers as a foreign service officer and a consultant for a major consulting firm, Tang decided to strike out on her own. Her past careers have taken her to numerous places around the world and in every location she picked up a unique accessory or piece of clothing that made people ask “where did you get that?’
With a business management background, Tang started STYLECABLE, a fashionable marketplace for designers around the world to sell their creations. Designers and their pieces are hand selected by Tang and their collections can be purchased on STYLECABLE.
The company looks for emerging designers who have a modern, edgy aesthetic. With the support of STYLECABLE, designers are given a platform to share their story and collections which adds a personal touch. I love the pieces below!
On Sunday, we were treated to the Oscar red carpet in Los Angeles, CA. The night is always all about the fashion, however I am also intrigued by the beautiful hair and makeup gliding down the red carpet. Here are some of my favorite looks of the night!
No surprise, I loved Lupita Nyong’o's classic look. It’s no secret I am lover of headbands and I am thrilled with how Lupita paired her classic girl next door Fred Leighton headband with these edgy earrings. I love the Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in 136 Mélodieuse Lupita is wearing.
My other favorite look of the evening was Olivia Wilde. The mother to be absolutely glowed on the red carpet in a sultry cat eye. Her makeup artist used Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner in Black as well as Revlon’s ColorStay Liquid Liner in Blackest Black to create that precisely winged-out line. For eye shadow, she is wearing Revlon’s new ShadowLinks in taupe for a soft shimmer on the eyelids. For her lip color, she wore Revlon’s Matte Balm and Super Lustrous Lipstick in Pink Cognito.
Jessica Biel also brought glamour to the red carpet. She seriously has one of the BEST bodies in hollywood. I want her to be my gym buddy. I adore her! Jessica is wearing CK One Color Cream + Powder Blush Duo in Breath on the cheeks with a mix of Tarte LipSurgence Matte Lip Tint in Lucky and CK One Color Lip Gloss in Quirky for lip color.
Kerry Washington gave me something different than most of the other actresses on the red carpet. Since we are so close to spring, I would have expected a lighter color pallet for makeup. The Scandal actress looked beautiful nonetheless. Kerry is wearing Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani Lipstick in #609 Plum topped withNeutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Rich Raisin for shine
Fashion icon Cate Blanchett brought her A game as usual! Cate the Great looked so beautiful and classic. She let her earrings and gown do all the talking. Cate’s lipstick is Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstacy in #103 Incognito. The eyeshadows are from Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Eyeshadow Quad in #2 Effeto Nudo, and the blush is Giorgio Armani Sheer Blush in #10 Beige.
Angelina Jolie was simply GORGEOUS! Her smoky eyes and nude lip was so subtle and beautiful.
Sandra Bullock is one of those actresses proving this is no longer your mother’s 50! The stunning beauty who has always been America’s sweetheart is turning 50 this year and she couldn’t be hotter. She brought old hollywood glam to the Oscars and she just commanded attention.
Overall, there were a lot of beautiful looks on the red carpet, albeit safer than I would have expected.
Everything at MINT whispers that I should be healthier. I am not quite sure why it has that effect. When I walked in the door, to my left, I saw the gym and I am not one to really pay much attention to others at the gym as I always want to be in and out the door in under 2 hours. On this particular day, I quickly noticed there are some really attractive people at that gym and they all seemed really happy to be there! But I digress.
When I arrived at the Dupont location, I was given slippers and a plush robe to change into and directed to the locker rooms. The women’s locker rooms were so clean and tranquil with sunlight pouring in. At MINT, all the lockers are equipped with combination locks which makes it very convenient, so leave your traditional gym lock and key at home! After changing, I met with the aesthetician Kate. She could not have been nicer.
Before she did anything, we talked, she looked at my skin closely and asked what my concerns were. Kate then told me what she observed looking at my skin. I was seriously dehydrated! That whole week, I had totally been slacking on my water intake. It was reminder that beautiful skin starts from the inside. Be good to your skin and it will be good to you.
I felt so at ease with Kate. She was the consummate professional and really knew her stuff. My facial consisted of cleansing, exfoliation, stream & extractions, facial massage, and masque. The signature facial was more than just a facial! I also received an amazing shoulder massage while my masque was on.
I could not think of a more amazing way to spend a Saturday afternoon. So to recap, my trip to MINT involved looking at beautiful people, meeting the nicest folks ever, being in an environment to made me want to be a healthier version of myself and walking out with glowing skin!
So in a word MINT was PERFECTION! I would absolutely go back and plan on it!

This past weekend in DC was absolutely gorgeous and had me dreaming of spring. For the first time in months, I stepped out of my house without a jacket. Unfortunately, the polar vortex has come back but I refuse to let it stop me from springing ahead.
In the spirit of spring, I am hosting a giveaway! I am absolutely in love with these amazing swimsuit cover-ups from Heather Blond Resortwear. These fun prints are a reminder that spring is less than a month away!
