A week ago, I visited Parma Spa in Tysons Corner, VA and Dr. Afsheen Ather recommended Image Skincare Prevention + moisturizer as part of my daily skincare routine. I was hesitant because sunscreen at times has made me breakout or shiny (I know, it is always me issue, sigh). That being said, I was pleasantly surprised when this moisturizer protected my skin without causing any breakouts!
The active ingredient of the moisturizer is zinc oxide, which is one of the preferred sunscreen agents along with titanium dioxide. They do a great job at blocking both UVA and UVB light. One common complaint of these two sunscreens is the white cast they can leave on the skin. Of these two sunscreens, zinc is less whitening on the skin and blocks nearly all dangerous UV light. Newer zinc oxide sunscreens contain particles so small that they are transparent and better at avoiding the white cast mentioned above. These sunscreens are called micronized and do a great job at protecting against UV radiation while leaving minimal trace of whitening. The picture below shows the sunscreen when initially placed on skin.
As you can see, it is pure white. However, it blends beautifully into the skin, also picture below.
If you are looking for a new sunscreen, Image Skincare Prevention is definitely worth a try.
