A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a blog post about tinted moisturizers vs. BB Creams. I feel like by the time I placed a period on that blog post, five new CC creams emerged on the scene.
So it begs the question, what is a CC cream and how does it differ from BB creams?
CC Creams, which stands for color corrector/control are multi-functional, like BB creams, but their biggest goal is color correction.
The main appeal of the CC cream lies in its illuminating properties. They enhance your glow and brighten your skin tone. This is one of the distinctions between BB and CC creams. BB creams are said to be part skin care, part cosmetics, while CC creams are largely about skin care.
While coverage will vary among each brand, what you will typically find is that CC creams provide less coverage than BB creams. Coverage falls in between tinted moisturizer and BB cream. In some instances, you can probably use your CC cream as a primer for your foundation.
My biggest hang up so far with BB and CC creams are the limited range of shades available. Most companies come out with 3-5 shades for these products which leaves lovely beauties with deeper hues out in the cold.
I recommend that those with oily, acne-prone skin or hyper-pigmentation problems choose a CC cream over a BB cream.
CC Creams are still relatively new to the market, so for now, only a few brands have them. However, expect that to change very quickly!
Next up for major cosmetic brands are DD creams. Stay tuned!
